Averitt Honored for Supporting Associates
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - In June, the Tennessee Workers' Compensation Conference met to induct seven employers into the first ever REWARD Honor Roll. Averitt, a leader in freight transportation and supply chain management, has been honored as one of these seven employers. This recognition highlights Averitt's commitment to supporting associates in their return to work after injury or illness.
The Tennessee REWARD Honor Roll celebrates employers who demonstrate excellence in managing workplace injuries and illnesses by facilitating a swift and effective return to work. The award acknowledges the importance of not only reducing workers' compensation costs, but also addressing the broader impacts that a prolonged absence from work can have on employees and their families.
"As a company deeply rooted in our values, we are honored to be recognized alongside other esteemed Tennessee employers for our efforts in this vital area," said Barry Blakely, president and chief operating officer at Averitt. "This accolade reinforces our dedication to creating a workplace where the safety, health, and success of our associates are at the forefront of everything we do."
By prioritizing the health and well-being of their associates, Averitt has implemented measures to ensure that associates receive the necessary support to resume their roles safely and efficiently. The company's commitment to fostering a positive return-to-work environment aligns with the Tennessee REWARD program's goals of improving outcomes for injured associates and maintaining a productive workforce.
When employees fail to return to work after an injury or illness, the consequences can be severe, with higher rates of mortality, substance abuse, mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, and a greater likelihood of divorce and domestic abuse. Additionally, sedentary binge behaviors, financial instability, and a loss of job or career identity can result from extended time away from work. These outcomes not only affect the individuals but also ripple through their families and communities.
