Learn, Grow, and Succeed as a Diesel Mechanic with Averitt

When it comes to keeping a modern truck fleet on the move, it takes a team of talented individuals with specialized skills. We understand the pivotal role that diesel mechanics play in the smooth operation of our business. That's why we ensure they're not just valued but consistently rewarded for their hard work and dedication.

Our diesel mechanic positions are more than just jobs; they're gateways to personal and professional growth in a supportive environment. As a diesel mechanic with us, you'll not only earn a competitive salary but also enjoy comprehensive health benefits. Moreover, our positive culture is designed to foster your long-term success. We are committed to providing you with the tools and opportunities you need to advance in your career and achieve your professional goals.

Jeremiah Carter , a maintenance associate on our team, recently won his second Grand Championship title at the Tennessee Trucking Association maintenance skills competition, highlighting the exceptional talent within our team of mechanics. This win, a testament to the growth opportunities available to our associates, qualifies Jeremiah for the ATA's national event and reflects positively on our entire team, reaffirming our dedication to the long-term success and growth of our team members.

Let's hear more about what being an Averitt diesel mechanic can mean for your career from the voices of some of our dedicated associates:

James Brewington , a mechanic based out of Cookeville, Tenn., joined our team as a teenager after Averitt representatives visited his high school. Now a seasoned diesel mechanic with over 37 years of experience, he highlights the strong bond he shares with his fellow mechanics and other team members.

"The people here are what make it special," he said. "From mentoring younger mechanics to traveling for work, Averitt has given me opportunities I never thought possible. I've enjoyed every minute of it."

Six years ago, James's wife was diagnosed with cancer and was receiving treatment in Houston. "Averitt assured me that if we needed to stay in Houston for her treatment, they would transfer me there so I could be by her side," he said.

Marty Wilson , a mechanic at our Knoxville, Tenn. terminal, agreed that his career is unlike any other diesel mechanic position he's had.

"Averitt makes you feel like you matter," he said. "You're not just a number here; you're part of a community that cares about your well-being and success. From the rewards program to the compensation packages, this is a career you can stay in until you retire, which I hope to do!"

Donald Jones , who transitioned from a military career to becoming a diesel mechanic at our Nashville shop, reemphasized the commitment and support he's felt during his time on our team.

"I love having the latest equipment and technology as well as being a part of a culture that prioritizes safety and collaboration. Averitt really does set you up for success," he said. "It's been a rewarding journey, especially knowing that my work as a veteran is valued."

Before joining our team, Don was a mechanic serving in the U.S. military. Averitt was the first place he worked following his military service.

"Being a veteran, having a career that felt rewarding really mattered to me," he said. "Averitt provided the perfect opportunity to get started, especially with their preventative maintenance department, which was very similar to my experience in the military. Since then, my career has just taken off. It's a fantastic company to start your career in ; it's really geared toward your success, I'd do it all over again."

From competitive pay and comprehensive benefits to a supportive work environment and opportunities for career advancement, we're committed to helping our diesel mechanics reach their full potential. So, if you're ready to make your mark in the world of diesel mechanics and embark on a fulfilling career journey with a company that values your contributions, join us today and discover firsthand why our team members choose to call Averitt home.
