From The Driver's Seat: Investing In Our Drivers

From The Driver's Seat: Investing In Our Drivers

In this episode of From the Driver's Seat, Director of Driver Services David Broyles sits down with Danny Crooks, Vice President of Corporate Transportation, to discuss current trends in the freight and truckload markets and how Averitt is positioning itself for continued success.

The conversation highlights a tightening of truckload capacity that began in mid-to-late March, leading to stronger freight demand by May. David and Danny explain how Averitt has remained prepared throughout market fluctuations by investing in new equipment, supporting drivers, and maintaining a long-term focus on growth.

The episode also includes several important updates for regional truckload drivers:

    • Pay Increase Effective August 9: The mileage rate for regional truckload drivers will increase from 64 cents to 66 cents per mile.
    • Hazmat Assessorial Pay: Drivers who haul hazardous materials loads will receive a $25 assessorial payment.
    • Comprehensive Benefits: Averitt continues to offer a strong benefits package, including profit sharing, medical, dental, and vision coverage.

David and Danny also discuss the important role driver referrals play in supporting company growth and helping Averitt continue to attract quality associates.

As freight demand continues to strengthen, the episode demonstrates Averitt's commitment to investing in its people, rewarding drivers for their contributions, and positioning the company for long-term success.
