As an Averitt diesel mechanic, you'll be paid according to how long you're on the clock, not just how many hours you spend fixing an issue. You'll work in clean, safe, state-of-the-art facilities while keeping our fleet moving safely and efficiently.

Diesel Mechanic Job Duties & Perks:

Competitive pay based on how long you're on the clock
Raises evaluated every 90 days
$2,500 tool bonus for qualified mechanics ($1,250 after 90 days, remainder after 180 days)!
Work on modern, low-mileage, private fleet equipment (Volvos and/or Freightliners with Cummins, Volvo, and Detroit engines) in clean, safe shop facilities
Provide bumper-to-bumper preventive maintenance service and/or repair to tractors, trailers, and Toyota forklifts
Use computers for diagnostics and troubleshooting
Electrical troubleshooting, tire maintenance, minor transmission repair, brake and air-conditioning system repair
Four-day workweek available in select locations
Uniforms provided and routinely cleaned

Part-time and full-time positions available.

Diesel Mechanic / Technician - Keep Our Fleet Moving

What You'll Do:

Hourly pay for all time worked, not just hands-on wrench time
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on our modern, low-mileage fleet of Volvo and Freightliner trucks (Cummins, Volvo, and Detroit engines)
Work on tractors, trailers, Tico yard trucks and Toyota and Mitsubishi forklifts
Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and repair
Handle electrical systems, tire maintenance, brake and air conditioning system repair, and minor transmission repairs
Enjoy a clean, organized, and well-equipped shop environment
4-day work weeks available at select locations
Experienced or newly trained, all diesel techs are welcome

Lexington, KY Averitt Associate Wins TTA’s Technician Skills Competition

Lexington preventive maintenance associate JEREMIAH CARTER (center) recently put together a dominating performance to win his second consecutive Tennessee Trucking Association Technician Skills Competition.

For the second consecutive year, JEREMIAH CARTER has proven himself to be the top performer at the Tennessee Trucking Association’s annual Technician Skills Competition. The Lexington preventive maintenance associate won Grand Champion honors!

With the victory, Jeremiah has qualified for the national event that will take place in Raleigh, NC.

Jeremiah put together a dominating performance at the Tennessee event, winning six of the 13 categories: Service Information, Electrical, Preventive Maintenance Inspection, Fasteners, Wheel End. and ABS.

This year’s event was Jeremiah’s third appearance in the TTA competition – he also placed second in 2021. Jeremiah has been a member of the Averitt team since 2014.

Before I came to Averitt, I was in the Marine Corps, did four years in active, and of course, four years inactive. And that took me to Afghanistan, between Afghanistan and Doha, Qatar for roughly seven years. Then I came back to United States because all the contracts are starting to sew up. And I contacted Averitt to try to interview for a job, and and then I got the job. And I've been with Avert since. Well, I like the uniformity of the company. The company's covered in a line about everything. Like, the trucks look the same. Even with the variants of the trucks, you still know it's Avery Trailers. You know it's Avery Trailers. The uniforms are pretty pretty much the same. Only people with different automations because we have the yellow green slips, but that's to keep us safe too. When I sit sit back and think about, retirement like, right now, I have five children. You know what I mean? Like, I could take a percentage of my pay and put in a four zero one k, and Averitt actually put some into it as well. So when I retired, that's one income I know that's there. You know? It's grown. I've been here little four years, and it's grown in double digits already. I said, cool. Well, the way the job market and the way that, companies fold is a relief, you know, to see that the company can endure that long and it's still dry it's driving and pushing stronger. So that lets me know that I still have a job When I wake up in the morning, hey. I don't have to worry about I hope they don't tell me we don't we're not working. It makes you feel a sense of stability when it comes to having a job and steady income for your family, you know. Makes you feel real good.
