Cortney Williams began his career with us in October 2022 as a shuttle driver, but within two short years he was promoted to frontline leader of one of our dedicated accounts. Having spent time as an Averitt driver and now a frontline leader, Cortney has valuable insight into what makes an Averitt associate. Due to that insight, he has used our referral program, People Like You, with great success.
What is People Like You?
Every Averitt associate across our network is eligible to help our team grow and enjoy the rewards of what's to come through our referral program, People Like You. So how does it work? An associate refers friends and family for any position within our system, and if that referral is hired, then the referring associate will receive $1,000. The best part -- there's no cap on the amount of money you can earn from referrals!
Cortney is just one of many associates who take advantage of our People Like You program, playing a role in choosing who we work with. What makes Cortney's approach even more special is that many of his referrals come from long-term friendships. One his referrals was a high school friend with a CDL who was looking for a good company with more home time opportunities. Cortney told him, "I've got the perfect match for you!" Another one of Cortney's referrals was a friend he connected with during CDL school.
Cortney says that he employs something of a lost art -- getting to know people through conversation. He talks to a lot of people just by the nature of his career with us and he takes the time to get to know them. Sometimes, the people he befriends or meets are a perfect match for Averitt, and Averitt is a perfect match for them. When Cortney sees someone with high character, a strong work ethic, and customer service skills looking for a new career home, he talks to them about joining our team. The end result -- we gain a valuable new associate who identifies with our culture and values, our new associate gains a new career with us, and Cortney receives $1,000!
