A career opportunity over 50 years in the making. Through it all, Averitt has been growing and thriving.
You’ve probably already noticed that the way we look is different from most transportation companies. Years ago, Averitt was one of the first companies in the industry to have uniforms, raising the bar for the image of the professional driver. That tradition continues today. Why is our image important? Customers prefer to do business with professional-looking people.
All drivers, dock associates and mechanics are required to wear uniform items. Every year, drivers and dock associates receive a uniform allotment that can be used toward the purchase of new uniform items. We call this our Uniformity program.
Associates receive an annual uniform allotment to help maintain our team's professional image. Eligible associates include:
First impressions are lasting impressions. Sometimes they’re the ONLY impression. Your image is an important factor in shaping the perceptions of our customers and the public. Customers will use providers that make them look good to their customers. Because of this, we want to always maintain a neat and professional appearance.
Clothing should be neat, clean, coordinated, and in good repair. Hats or clothing with another company’s logo are not allowed. We also have an online company store where you can purchase apparel, gifts, and collectibles. View all of our uniform items by browsing our current uniform catalog.
We allow facial hair! Beards, mustaches and goatees are allowed, but must follow the ½-inch long rule. Beards and goatees are only permitted for hourly and mileage associates in the field. A mustache is permitted for all positions.
Tattoos are allowed if they are considered inconspicuous. Tattoos that are offensive and/or disturbing are prohibited. If your tattoos require covering, we offer an arm sleeve and/or long-sleeve shirt options.
Men’s hair should not extend below the collar. Hair must be a naturally occurring color. No green, purple, etc. No piercings.
Women’s hair must be neatly trimmed or pulled back. Earrings are permitted; however, hoops and dangling earrings may not be worn while handling freight. Excessive jewelry is not permitted.
Our associates are expected to comply with all image guidelines while on duty. Drivers are exempt from the image and uniform guidelines only when they are off duty and in the sleeper berth or outside of their vehicle at a non-customer location.
Leadership and corporate associates who are not subject to uniform requirements are expected to wear business professional clothing with the option of wearing items that they can purchase through our professional logo wear program.
