Averitt Salutes You
You've earned the right to be at ease
Calling All Service Men, Women and Military Spouses
We salute the heroes who’ve proudly worn our nation’s colors. The men and women who serve our country make big sacrifices for the freedoms we enjoy, as do the spouses of those that serve. At Averitt, we believe that every veteran and military spouse deserves to work with a company that values their experience and the unique skills they bring to the table. Whether you’re current or former military, or whether your last day serving was yesterday or a decade ago, there’s a place for you on our team.
Supporting You as You Defend Our Country
We’re proud to be a military-friendly employer, and we believe our military associates have the right to be at ease as they make sacrifices to defend our country.
Going on active duty can present financial challenges for some service members. When you’re called to active duty or training camp, you can now be compensated for your leave of absence – for up to 30 consecutive days, you’ll be eligible to receive the difference between your military pay and the base pay you would have earned at Averitt.
About 13% of our associates are military veterans, and we know we're stronger when veterans wear the Averitt uniform. So you can rest easy knowing that while you go on active duty or to training camp, we’ve got your back!

Whether you served our country ten years ago or ten days ago, we believe every veteran deserves the same thing: the peace of mind that comes from working with a team that has your back, and a company that has your future. Or as we like to call it: the right to be at ease. At Averitt, we don't just take pride in our veterans, we take care of them. Now, with things like top-notch equipment and sharp professional uniforms, excellent benefits for veterans and their families, opportunities to learn and grow within the company, and a culture that honors, values, and respects military service. From the top down. [Gary Sasser] "I'm proud to have served and learned a lot about teamwork in the Marine Reserves and I want to take this moment to personally thank the many Averitt associates who have and those who still serve in the United States Armed Forces. We are totally committed to recruiting and supporting our veterans, and we would be honored for you to join our team." As a family-owned company we've worked hard since 1971 to earn a reputation for being professional, trustworthy, and organized we've also built a hand-picked team that takes care of each other and takes pride in a job well done. In other words we've created a place where servicemen and women feel right at home. Today, more than 21% of our 9,000 associates are veterans and there's plenty of room for that number to grow. In fact, we're committed to hiring 1,200 more veterans by 2020, and we'll bring on even more than that if possible because if there's one thing we don't want, it's for our veterans to ever have to worry about where to go next. So if you're looking for a place to hang your hat, take a closer look at Averitt. We want you, we're here for you, whatever branch you're coming from, whatever knowledge you bring to the table we can't wait to put your experience to work and your mind at ease.
If you’re a military veteran or military spouse and are considering your options for what to do next, a career with Averitt may be exactly what you need.

So my name is Paul Bratcher. I'm out of Clarksville, Tennessee, and I started with Averitt in January twenty nineteen. Out of twenty six years in the military, sir, I spent nineteen of those years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, nine combat deployments. I retired in March first of, twenty nineteen. I started working for Averitt in January of twenty nineteen. Prior to my retirement, the army offers a program through, Johnsonville Community College. They offer a CDL program where while you are still on active duty, you're allowed to attend, that school for two months. And it's completely paid for, plus you're still earning your salary in the military. Once that was done, I started with my with the military policy transition leave, and that's how I came to Averitt in January while I was still active duty. When I came to Averitt is when I also, used GI Bill, for the next twelve months of my transition to the civilian sector, and it's been it's been a really good experience ever since. I wanted to be a truck driver since I saw the movie Over the Top with Sylvester Stallone. That was like, I wanna be a truck driver. I tell you, I defended this country long enough, and I think I deserve the right to to see it. And Averitt helps me do that, and and I really love Averitt for it. The biggest thing that made me go to Averitt was the sense of professionalism that was there. None of the other companies that I even talked to or considered had the level of professionalism that Averitt had, and that was a defining, moment that I knew I was gonna work for Averitt for a long time. The thing about Averitt is nobody stands in front of you. They all stand beside you, and they always got your back. And that's what I really love about A rated, and that's where I see my future with A rated in a long time.
Paul Bratcher
Paul Bratcher started working with Averitt in January 2019 after a 26-year military career, primarily at Fort Bragg with nine combat deployments. Before retiring in March 2019, he completed a CDL program through Johnsonville Community College while still on active duty, fully funded by the Army. Paul began with us while using military transition leave and the GI Bill for his first year. He chose us for our professionalism and supportive environment, where colleagues stand beside each other.
Lavern Carter
Lavern Carter served in the United States Army for 10 years. She chose Averitt for our diversity, noting the representation of women and veterans in the company. Lavern appreciates that we value her as an individual, not just a number. Her military experience instilled in her qualities like responsibility, integrity, and teamwork, which align with our collaborative environment. She feels genuinely cared for and acknowledged for her service, making Averitt the best choice for her.
I'm Laverne Carter. Served in the United States Army for ten years. When I started driving, I looked into plenty of other companies, but I chose Averitt because of the, the diversity in the company. You don't just see males on advertisement. You see other women and other veterans like myself, and that's why I figured this was the best company to to go with. It shows that they appreciate someone like me. It shows that my gender doesn't matter. It it shows me that I am a person. I I don't feel like just another number running in and out of the doors. My military experience kinda shaped me into the person I am today. It taught me responsibility, integrity, teamwork, accountability for myself and others. And I chose Averitt because of the teamwork that they have. They're not oh, it's just one individual by themselves. It's the whole company together, and I love that concept about it. I feel like that they truly care for me as a person and for who I am, and because of my time in the service, they appreciate that and they acknowledge that. So I actually feel like a person with David.
My name is Dan Mason, I'm a front line leader here in Dallas service center, I started in 2015. And with Averitt Express I'm able to come in do my job and as far as the military goes the military is very much you know disciplined. You do the right thing, the right way, no matter who's looking, what's going on, it doesn't matter. And with Averitt, I got a lot of that combined with the family aspect of it. Everyone here acts like they're your family. Averitt fully supports me being in the military and even now that I'm out they fully support us as far as every I get to wear a veteran on my side and I'm very proud of that. One main area that I really like, we have a program Averitt Cares for Kids that can actually reach out into the community and lay a hand on someone's heart and lay a hand on someone's life. That's life-changing for many people. What I like about my career here at Averitt is the fact that there is almost limitless mobility. There's always going to be job openings available within the company and the company is very much let's look inside first and see if there's any opportunity. Averitt promotes from within I mean they're stories over and over again about people who've come on board as a part-time doc associate and they thought this was just going to be their temp job. They thought you know what we're coming into Christmas time I want a little bit extra money. 16 years later here they are as a driver coming in seeing me every night. Hey, man 16 years ago I would never dream and provides a good life a good career choice for their family and they have something they're proud of every day.
