What is a City Pickup & Delivery (P&D) Driver at Averitt?
What does a typical day look like for a City P&D Driver?
Our City P&D Drivers start and end their day at the same service center. A typical workday includes:
- Making scheduled local pickups and deliveries
- Loading and unloading freight at customer locations
- Safely operating company equipment
- Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Communicating with customers and service center teams
Because routes are local, City P&D Drivers enjoy predictable schedules and home daily routines.

What kind of customers will I work with?
What qualifications do I need to become a City P&D Driver?
Qualifications may vary by location, but City P&D Drivers typically need:
- A valid CDL-A 
- A minimum of 4 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years (12 months in the last 3 years preferred) 
- Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements, or be willing to obtain them
- The ability to safely lift and move freight
