Driver Training Programs

Are you ready to get your driving career rolling but don’t fully meet Averitt’s requirements?  Look no further, we offer several training programs tailored to your experience level.

Here at Averitt we take pride in our drivers safety and want to ensure that you have all the training you need to feel confident and comfortable out on the open road.  Our training programs offer on-the-job training with an experienced Averitt driver trainer where you’ll benefit from the knowledge of your own personal trainer and mentor.

All our training programs are paid training and you’ll enjoy all the benefits of being a full-time Averitt associate.

Supplemental Training Program

(Regional & Dedicated/Supply Chain Drivers Only)

Short on experience? Only have 4 to 11 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience within the past 3 years? This program will provide you a minimum of 3 weeks of paid training at $600 per week for Regional drivers and $400-$600 weekly for Dedicated/Supply Chain drivers. After successful completion of the course, Regional drivers will earn starting pay of 35 cpm! (37 cpm for northern domiciles). Northern domiciles include WI, IL, IN, MI, OH, PA and Northern VA.

Dedicated / Supply Chain driver pay is account dependent. Please click on the specific position to see pay and other details.

If the haz mat endorsement is required, you must apply for it within 30 days of completing training (Averitt will reimburse cost upon receipt).

Refresher Training Program

(Regional & Dedicated/Supply Chain Drivers Only)

Been out of the driver’s seat for a while? Only have 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience and it was 4-5 years ago? This program will provide you a minimum of 1 week of paid training at $600 per week for Regional drivers and $400-$600 for Dedicated/Supply Chain drivers. After successfully completing the course, Regional drivers will earn starting pay of 37 cpm! (42.5 cpm for northern domiciles). If more than 1 week of training is needed, starting pay is 35 cpm! (37 cpm for northern domiciles). Northern domiciles include WI, IL, IN, MI, OH, PA and Northern VA.

Student Driver Training Programs

(Regional & Dedicated/Supply Chain Drivers Only)

Regional Student Driver Training Program

The Student Driver Training Program is for former students that have graduated from one of our approved truck driving training schools in the previous 60 days OR have 1 up to 4 months of solo tractor trailer experience within the past 1 year.

This exciting opportunity provides on-the-job training with an experienced Averitt driver trainer where you will enjoy running the open road for a minimum of 5 weeks where you will benefit from the knowledge of your own personal trainer and mentor. During this 5 week training, Averitt will pay you $600 per week, plus you'll enjoy all the benefits of being an Averitt associate.

After successful completion of your training, your pay scale will be:
- First 3 months - .33/mile
- At 3-6 months - .34/mile
- At 6-9 months - .35/mile
(tuition reimbursement/bonus of $1,000 provided after 6 months)
- At 9-12 months - .36/mile
- At 12+ months - .38/mile
*Pay increases assume driver maintains satisfactory safety record

To ensure that you are comfortable and confident after your training, we will assign you a transitional fleet manager for approximately 3-4 weeks. This transitional fleet manager will provide one on one support and make your transition into a solo driver as easy as possible and to ensure you feel confident and fully understand the system. After that, you'll be assigned your regular fleet manager and ready to tackle the open road.

Dedicated/Supply Chain Student Driver Training Program

The Student Driver Training Program is for former students that have graduated from one of our approved truck driving training schools in the previous 120 days OR have 1 up to 4 months of solo tractor trailer experience within the past 1 year.

This exciting opportunity provides on-the-job training with an experienced Averitt driver trainer where you will enjoy running the open road for a minimum of 5 weeks where you will benefit from the knowledge of your own personal trainer and mentor. During this 5 week training, Averitt will pay you $400-$600 per week, plus you'll enjoy all the benefits of being an Averitt associate.

Tuition reimbursement/bonus of $1,000 will be provided after 6 months.

If the HazMat endorsement is required, you must apply for it within 30 days of completing training (Averitt will reimburse cost upon receipt).
